For 2009, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport undergoes a minor refreshening, with clear taillight and side turn signal lenses, a new "Noble" metal finish to the interior accents, and new available wheel designs.
A new Limited Edition is offered on the Supercharged HST, which upgrades the interior with premium ebony leather with contrasting ivory stitching, Noble metal finish accents, Sirius satellite radio, DVD rear seat entertainment system, adaptive front lighting and centre cooler box, along with adaptive cruise control, flush-fit front and rear bumpers, unique front grille, body-coloured lower side panels, extended rear roof spoiler, rear chrome exhaust tips, and 20-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels. The package is $10,700.
The Range Rover Sport comes as the HSE, and 4.4-litre V8, and the Supercharged (S/C), with supercharged 4.2-litre V8. Both use a six-speed automatic transmission, permanent four-wheel drive, electronic air suspension, and hill descent control. The driver-selectable Terrain Response includes five settings for general driving, grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts, sand, and rock crawl.
Features on the HSE include 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation system, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, eight-way power heated front and rear leather seats, three-position driver's memory, power tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped wheel with audio controls, heated windshield washer nozzles, rain-sensing wipers, rear washer/wiper, front and rear park distance control, 65/35 split-folding rear seat, cargo cover, cruise control, trip computer, exterior temperature display, power sunroof, power windows, keyless entry, garage door opener, automatic bi-xenon headlamps with washers, front and rear fog lamps, heated power-folding mirrors with reverse tip-down, tire pressure monitoring system, privacy glass, and six-CD Harman/Kardon Logic7 surround sound system with auxiliary input.
The S/C adds 20-inch alloy wheels, sport suspension, Brembo front brakes, adaptive front lighting, walnut wood interior trim, and centre console cooling box.
Similar to the Range Rover, the Sport is slightly smaller and lighter, which also makes it faster and more nimble. Its extreme off-road capability matches that of its larger sibling, however. Pricing remains the same as with the 2008 models.
